Why is Hockey Off-season Training Crucial to the Season?
By Vanessa Napoleone

The off season is here but that doesn’t mean training should come to a stop! Here at Cristini athletics we can help you become a better Athlete on and off the Ice. The off-season is a crucial time to prepare for the upcoming season both mentally and physically!
Physical Benefits of Off-season training – Off-season training can help players improve their strength, speed, endurance, and agility. This can translate to improved skating speed, shot power, and agility on the ice. Additionally core training is very important, this can lead to better balance, coordination, and overall movement quality.
Injury Prevention- Strength training improves the strength of the muscles, tendons, and even the ligaments and bones. Stronger muscles and tendons help hold the body in proper alignment and protect the bones and joints when moving or under impact
Increased Endurance- CrossFit is a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) that involves a variety of functional movements, such as weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio exercises, with the goal of improving overall fitness and endurance. By incorporating functional movements and HIIT-style workouts into their training routine, hockey players can improve their cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and explosiveness.
CrossFit workouts are designed to be high-intensity, which can help hockey players improve their speed, power, and agility. By pushing themselves to their limits during training, players can develop the mental and physical toughness needed to succeed in hockey.
Not only will CrossFit make them better hockey players but it also helps balancing imbalances in their muscles!
