CrossFit Markham May Member of the Month Rosie Corvo
Name: Rosie Corvo
How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I was introduced to CrossFit by a close friend of the Cristini’s. I knew I wanted to push my body so she recommended I try a class. Couldn’t walk for a week and I was hooked!
What made you decide to join CrossFit Markham?
I knew I really loved the CFM community. Everyone was so supportive , motivating and of course made it so much fun to go to classes. No other gym or establishment compared.
Favourite Lifts/ Wods?
Favourite lifts are deadlifts , front and back squats and power clean/squat clean
Favourite Place to Eat?
Fav places to eat are Chako, Desserts Plus and All You Can Eat Sushi
3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge:
- Swiss chard
- Kalamata olives
- Hot peppers
Working 2 jobs and finishing my Degree in Social Work
Something people wouldn’t know about me:
I love to bake Artisan Breads by hand in my spare time
Biggest Struggle in Life:
My biggest struggle has always been my weight, and finding a happy medium in my diet.
Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who?
I would say my mom and Dad are my biggest mentors. They Have always guided and steered me in the right direction and have instilled so many amazing morals and values I carry with me always. I believe I’m a reflection of the kind caring strong independent and hard working people they are.
Who inspires you?
Inspiration comes in many forms for me but when I see the youth that I work with survive so many struggles , who are resilient and growing it inspires me to keep moving forward , to face fears and to take on challenges with open arms.
What music I like listening to While Working Out:
Everyone knows me for yelling at the coaches to turn up the music and make every class a bit of a dance party . Loving the Reggaeton, reggae and top 40 mixes right now when working out.
Anything else you would like to say (Open Comments):
Crossfit and especially my Crossfit Markham community truly enhances my life. My sanity lies at the gym , I smile more , the tension of the day dissipates and I feel free to be myself ,to challenge myself and to motivate others around me . Working out or doing a workout is not only about keeping yourself physically healthy, it truly bleeds into every other aspect of your life and I am truly grateful I get to be a part of that .
